The Problem With the 12-Tone System
Piero Lunere is meant to possess a beauty of a certain kind, but it was also meant as expressionist art. It's no accident that expressionism in the German art world was skyrocketing in popularity at the time. Schoenberg took music to its logical extreme by releasing itself from the bounds of tonality and going to a place of violent and passionate emotional outbursts. He invented the 12-tone system, which is where his problems really started with audiences.
