Trump's promise to pay down the debt in eight years would have required cutting government spending every single year by 95%. In the next six years, I don't even think it's possible. We've got mandatory spending on Social Security and Medicare right there is just about enough to invalidate the possibility. These people are so far off the shore that they can't even see the lighthouse anymore.
