The Cycle of History and the Times of the Roman Empire
I want to draw some parallels, though, to the cycles of history and the times of the Romans and the Greeks. And so I think one of the most interesting characters is St. Augustine. He was writing at the time, you know, 365. It's the end of the kind of Roman Empire. But he's also talking about how many of the Roman elite are transitioning into the church. They're leading monasteries. So there is this kind of stabilizing force that Insel was talking about.
