Is There a Demographic Trough in These Centuries?
The city of rome is perhaps the greatest example of at once change and i guess, continuity in some ways. It's very interesting, you think about this, this world that's changed so profoundly, but we can kind of, it's hard to put our finger on the pulse and exactly how it's changing. I may mention this in the book briefly, about this apparent decline in general population as well as urban population. But there are indications that areas of cultivated land shrink. And so i think most people would agree that there was a fallen population, but it's impossible to qrantify.
