Transgluteal Blocks for Post-Op Pain Control

With a nerve stimulator you can get a calf response muscle contraction and then foot plantar dorsiflexion because that's all sciatic nerve. And so a lot of times we'll use this block for above knee amputations and for post-op pain control this is a really good spot for a catheter. Pretty similar to our anterior sciatic and outer plane approach may be appropriate but I think with enough room and good ergonomics you can do an in plane approach.
