The Disconnectedness of Elders in the US

I just don't understand Is this like an American culture thing where we're just so Independent and sort of disconnected from prior generations of our family compared to other cultures that you know. It becomes there's there's less of a sense of duty to care for your elders when you get of a certain age. We are so disconnected from the phases of life and aging and death and all these things that we kind of just shove it away.
