The Politics of Language Change

The French Academy of Language tries to maintain a, a French way of speaking that doesn't pull in other languages as much. The key idea is new speak in 1984, right? Which, you know, is making a political point from the idea that the government's going to take total control of language. Well, that's an interesting sort of philosophical idea, but it's not realistic that that could really happen to the extent that it's portrayed in 1984.
