Clarence felt estranged from his entire community. He had a grandfather who was a devout Catholic and wanted him to have the Catholic experience. His grandfather paid $20 a year for Clarence to attend St. Benedict's School. The resentment and anger that can provoke within the darker skin and blacker individuals also not so pretty.
