New Orleans' Response to Prohibition

New Orleans put up a fight when the ban on alcohol came into effect in 1921. Some 3,000 people marched through the streets to voice their opposition to the looming law. Prohibition wasn't the first time the city had felt the long arm of federal regulation. Aside from back alley speakeasies, there were secret rooms in upscale hotels and at high end restaurants.
