Type 2 Diabetes and Pain Associated With Distal Sympathetic Polyneuropathy

The researchers enrolled 130 adults with diabetes and pain associated with distal symmetric polyneuropathy for at least three months. Participants were randomized to three 16-week pathways separated by a two-week washout period. The pathways included one oral amitriptyline supplemented with pre-gabalin, two pre- gabalin supplemented with amitripyline, or three duloxetine supplemented with pre-Gabalin. 84% of participants had typed two diabetes and 94% were white.
