The Importance of the University
The university is a difficult place from which to be writing the kinds of things and stories that I do. But at the same time, it's precisely the place that's sustained and given life to these other ways of thinking. The University of Sydney always has had a function where if you are able to go and find something that it does not know and bring it into the middle of it, you're rewarded for it. And so I guess that's in some ways how the paradigm of modernity works to be able to take things and be able to bring something in. That's what's considered original work.
