Are We Enforcing Our Own Labour Laws?

The UK is unusually bad at enforcing its own labour laws. We don't have very many labour market inspectors for the number of workers that we have. The health and safety executive, if you're not being paid the minimum wage, then that's HMRC's problem. So it's all very piecemeal and there have been discussions about trying to bring all that together into a sort of single enforcement body which might do a better job.
