The word that seems to be running through much of this conversation at the moment is numbers or maybe metrics. In my university, several years ago, they started a policy where they would set benchmarks for how many butts you had to have in seats by college. And it's all just driven by a numbers game that's being played over the value of a butt in a seat. That'show our students are often being treated, I think, in higher education as a sort of value point rather than as a future citizen.
