The Yellow Fever Epidemic in Philadelphia
Rush was a 16-year-old apprentice when he first saw the yellow fever epidemic in 1762. He warned his fellow doctors that an epidemic was spreading through Philadelphia, but most of them brushed him off. The next day, 12 more people perished from the disease and Rush went to City Hall to plead his case.
