The Power of Stories in Food Writing

I think the thing that really makes food writing sing is the personal fingerprint of that lived experience. And that's something that somebody who's been here can do so much better than somebody who's just scouring Yelp reviews to put together a listicle. I totally get all of the constraints that go into being a journalist on deadline and needing to crank out a lot of content. But there's something really special about hearing the behind-seeing stories of everything that goes into a place. It has such history and makes a difference beyond just a pretty photo.
