The First One Is Whitewashing, Right?
The church historian for about 50 years was a direct descendant of the prophet joseph smith. So there had to be some very, very personal reasons for this individual to want to create a faith promoting story around the restoration. In so doing, justified a lot of whitewashing and deception at a large, at a grand scale level. Because it was someone's personal agenda to protect their loved one. I think he didn't know, and it was fragile.
