Is the Russian Army Against Ukraine a Zone Fight?

The Russian military has gone almost 180 from earlier in the war using metal that is using armor and infantry fighting vehicles to conduct reconnaissance than exposing Ukrainian positions. The casualties on both sides are not insignificant and they might be much higher on the Russian side, but it's clear that Ukraine has also losing good people. It seems like Russia, as far as we can tell, which we can't very well, I think has sustained far larger losses than Ukraine and Bach Moot.
