How to Make Cleft Sentences
Cleft means divided or split. It comes from the verb whose infinitive is to cleave, that's C-L-E-A-V-E. We use these cleft sentences when we want to give emphasis to something in English. In other words, a relative pronoun followed by a relative clause.
