Psychotherapist Lyle Menendez threatened to kill his patient if he repeated what Eric had told him. He unknowingly broke the confidentiality barrier by letting a mistress stand outside and listen to their sessions. The therapist dumped her, she became angry and reported all of this to the police. They finally had proof that the boys were involved. Until the confession surfaced, the boys had not been prime suspects. Four years later they were arrested and tried in the same courtroom but each had their own jury. First trial was shown on court TV and became a phenomena. Second trial was very different.
