In 1963, Sam made his biggest plunge with the purchase of text specific. He borrowed $75 million from institutional investors in 25 year promissory notes. By 1975, Texas specific had paid off its debt. The company proved to be one of Sam's shrewdest moves. It was sold by his heirs in 1980 for $2.3 billion.
