I'm Not Making Something Out of Nothing

The sound of something shifting its weight or walking started to move from the middle of the kitchen where the sound originated and towards the entrance to the living room. The sounds were nothing like the doll rapid thumps that came from a person walking along our back porch to enter the house. These sounds could have only come from the kitchen specifically the floors and cabinets. I tried to tell my mom what was happening right before she got home but she didn't believe me or seemed to care. So this happened about 10 years ago in Manitou Springs, Colorado.
