The Achilles Heel of AMD
Epic's curse is that it's too different from Intel for data center managers to just immediately rush out and adopt it. Epic is better than Zion, but not so much so that the people who are actually willing to switch from Zion are going to pick it rather than go even further afield. There was some interesting stuff starting with Ice Lake and this new Sapphire Rapid stuff,. Intel's AVX512 has a new vectorized version of AES used by things like HTTPS, IPSec and WireGuard.
