Do You Know the Origin of Blind Eyes?
A lot of these are commonly accepted origins or often repeated stories that don't have a lot of basis. The phrase itself is used as a way to pretend not to notice something. In 1801, Admiral Nelson was leading an attack with another Admiral, Sir Hyde Parker, in the Battle of Copenhagen. He took out his telescopic eyepiece, put it up to his blind eye and looked in the direction of the Samaphore flags.
