The Importance of Open Source Intelligence in Conflicts

Sudan conflict has highlighted once again how valuable open source intelligence can be in conflict situations. Social media footage allowed us to corroborate what we were seeing through commercial satellite imagery analysis. In some cases it allowed us also to understand to what extent those claims were just propaganda from one of the worrying factions trying to establish a status quo that was really different from what's on the ground.
