The US-China Strategic Partnership

The Russia China strategic partnership long predates the summit of democracies along. It goes back a long way and it shouldn't again be surprising because autocratic great powers have an interest in creating a world in which autocracies can thrive just as democratic great powers want to preserve or create a world where democracies can thrive. The final point I'd make though is that it's not incumbent upon us as analysts even if we take the security dilemma seriously to treat the ambitions of a China and the U.S. as being morally equivalent. And so when we talk about these types of disagreements between Washington and Beijing. Let's be frank about what we're actually talking about.
