The Importance of Wisdom in Animals

In the US, we do not have a native primate population. We don't really interact with monkeys or other primates except for in zoos. In Japan at the time that this saying came into being, they did have a big macaque population probably interacted with them. And so it's funny to me that monkeys have become in like a United States culture, probably other cultures is synonymous with goofy and dumb because they're extremely intelligent. Yes, they can be silly but they are very clever.
