Is There a Foundation of Air?
C.S. Lewis put his finger on it when he said that clear, concise criticism is difficult. Like obscure, difficult criticism is easy enough because it is always hiding a lack of understanding. It's not based on anything besides what Virginia Woolf happens to fancy. But it uses big words and jargon. So it sounds like that's right. There's this thing, but there's just a foundation of air. You know, I mean, there's nothing there.
