What Is Gender Affirming Care?
Dr. Katie Lowe is a pediatrician with the Montana AAP and co-author of Uology, a puberty guide for everybody. Gender affirming care is what we call care that we provide to kids who are gender diverse or transgender. It can mean helping them access mental health therapy if they need that to help them explore their gender identity. But again, this is individualized, developmentally appropriate, evidence-based healthcare.
