The Importance of a Republic in Kant's Politics

The key aspect of a republic that makes it the necessary path for any form of government to aspire to is its conformity to its duty and the moral duty to protect the rights and freedoms of its populace. In some sense we do find the modern world in agreement with him I would just point to the the non-majoritarian regulatory bodies of the European Union as an example. We find perhaps most you know presciently as regards Kant's political theories that the political realm today has echoes of his ideas.
