The Narrative of Drugs

Naked lunch is one of the greatest books ever written period. David Foster Wallace writes about drugs in infinite jest it's they're almost comedic set pieces that don't necessarily bear all that much of a resemblance to the way that the drugs are used in reality. When someone like William S. Burroughs writes about drugs it's actually much more accurate and when he talks about these obscure or imaginary substances I mean there's one part in naked lunch where he's describing this opioid that does not exist but based on everything that was known at that time it would be far more potent than heroin.
