The Importance of Responsible Creativity in Social Media
Facebook's policies in some countries, for example, Myanmar were extremely irresponsible when it was brought to their attention that their technology and the specific way in which it was being used could have been modified. The Facebook response was to do nothing. We are not opposed at all to innovation or to responsible creativity on the part of the corporate sector. But when you have the kind of abuse of power and mistreatment of people that we have seen around the world, of course you have to respond.
