The Relationship Between the Government and the Reserve Bank
There is a two-fold pressure that is a constant tension between the Ministry of Finance and RBI. One is about interest rates setting because the government is in effect the biggest borrower. The second part of it is the management of public sector banks as that is still one conduit that the government has if not for transparent off on the book spending to reach its populist electoral goals.
