The State of Indonesia's Mining Industry
No regulatory regime for an alternative way of handling H-PAL tailings has emerged as yet. The divestiture obligation was one of the major impediments to new exploration activity in the mining industry. 10 years ago, 15 years ago, there were probably 100 foreign exploration companies active in Indonesia. Today, you'd be able to count the number on the fingers of one hand I'd suggest and still have a couple of fingers left over.
