Summer describes Aenea preparing for war in the Fagels translation. There is a convention in epic poetry called the Aristea. During an Aristea, a character becomes, for a moment, nearly invincible. In Book V, Diomedes has a famous Aristea, besting enemy warriors and even the gods themselves with the aid of Aenea.
