The Need for a Local Community Newspaper
In the fifties and sixties, italians arrived in canada with few prospects. Newspapers like lecco and marco polo kept them abreast of what was happening in their adopted community. This generation of italian canadians formed a loyal readership for the newspaper but their numbers are dwindling. The need for such a paper has diminished. New imigrants from italy hardly resemble the lonely laborers of my grandparents generation.
