The Doctrine of Divine Accommodation in the Old Testament
The doctrine of divine accommodation has a place in how we interpret challenging Old Testament passages. Greg Boyd for example would say these laws are positively immoral anti-gospel etc but that's not the impression I get reading Jesus, he says. There is even a place of accommodation when God works with the Israelites in an ancient year eastern setting permits certain things as Jesus said in Matthew 19 8. Enthi Wright talks about how the law is like a booster rocket it has a places in Israel's history and so on.
