Iran's Influence in the Gulf States
I think Iran is quite proud of how deeply entrenched it's become in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. And this isn't something that any of the GCC seats could accomplish with all their wealth. It seems to me that they're not trying to build a utopian society. They're trying to advance their interests broadly in the region. I've also found it striking when Vah said that there's a perception that the United States might have its foot in the region, but it's harder elsewhere.
