The Poet in Residence at the Los Angeles County Zoo

I was big into writing poetry. Yeah, I will do it sometimes as an exercise. It is part of my process sometimes to write things in the form of those type of thoughts. Unless you really commit to it, it gets harder to keep that part of your kind of creativity alive. One poem doesn't make a poet. No. You got to do it. What's got to be your life? Yep. Because most times you've got to be an academic and you'vegot to live in that insulated world where poetry is important.
