The Dunning Kruger Effect is a statistical artifact valid approaches to testing the hypothesis with individual differences data. The new paper asserts that it's also an better than average heuristic, which they consistently call a statistical bias. They did not do their experimentation utilizing intelligence tests. Neither did most of the people who have replicated the study.
