The first world war and its end fits into a longer story. There's always a temptation to fold the events of 19 18, 19 19 into that longer story. Weber did not know what was coming. We turned to think of it as an epic, but grinding four year struggle,. often characterized by stale mate trench warfare. But for people who lived through it, it wasn't just aFour-year Struggle: It was more dramatic than that. And then it came to an end in a way that produced a victory that was very quickly squandered by a punitive peace after World War One.
