Nick wrote that his case had gotten so much attention not just because Sophia was a very famous actress, but also because embryonic custody disputes raise important questions about life, religion and parenthood. In the piece, Nick alluded to a somewhat Catholic upbringing as he wrote that he was largely looked after by his Irish Catholic nanny Renee who had taken him to church a lot. He also wrote about a former girlfriend who chose to have an abortion, a decision that he said was entirely out of his hands.
