Nanotechnology in Science Fiction

The real era of nanotek going the rails in science fiction doesn't really get going until the 19 seventies. This is when our tools and techniques in the lab were getting good enough to be able to build and manipulate stuff on the nano scale. The idea that these assemblers would become rampaging robots, or we would just screw up their programming are perfectly legitimate possibilities. Mentioning pray to nano technology researchers can sometimes be like detonating a bomb, like they hate it.
