The Importance of Paying Attention

I think there is a large part of our moral sense, our moral intuitions are the consequence of our evolution. I don't know whether that will be particularly helpful in dealing with climate catastrophe or social injustice. These are issues that go beyond my intuitive sense of what's the right thing to do in a social situation. And something like Buddhism or any sort of philosophy is not concerned purely with ethics as, you know, social lubricant, making us feel better. But it's also giving us the foundations, the ideas, the vision that can help us actually deal with questions for which we are not biologically prepared.
