Statecraftiness - Investigating Influence in the Pacific

CHAPTER

The Game of Statecraft

Statecraft is a game played out every day in government offices, police training centers and deep on the ocean floor. A free and open Indo-Pacific is vital to each of our nations, security and prosperity and all our shared futures. Professor Joanne Wallace from the University of Adelaide got in touch with an idea for a project examining this game. Statecraft basically describes the behaviour, the tools that a state has in its repertoire that it can try to use to influence or shape the behaviour of other states and actors. The quest is never successful entirely and the book to me is an appeal for humility to remember and learn from the past.
