The Rise and Fall of the Supreme Court
i think the what we would describe as the modern version of john marshal is erl warren right so there's no question that the during warrens from 1953 to 1969 this rights revolution is driven in large part by national centrality. i hope everyone understands that that one of the things in the judiciary act of 1789 was that the these supreme court justices needed to travel to the outlying areas of the country and handle cases personally from time to time partly this was a cost saving thing but it was also to keep them honest keeping them with the people.
