i have to say that this was the easiest book i've ever written. And it came out of a a frustration, because i had just spent a long time, a rewriting, for the th time, a novel about my grandfather. It's also because i think i have discovered in me a kind of reticence about fiction in general. So modern society, modern consciousness, is essentially fictional.
