The Future of Rheumatology Care
The ACR expects that there will be a shortage of rheumatologists in the future. "There's just an essential need" for more doctors, he says. There are only 300 pediatric rheumatologist in the U.S., and pediatrics is particularly hard to fill. The challenges range from lack of health care networks to not being able to see patients at all.
