Can Cruise Lines Offer Future Crews Credits?

I have a european river cruise reserved and paid for. The cruisline notify me that the cruise has been modified. They say, since this is not a cancellation, they won't refund my money or offer future cruise credits. I did purchase crews insurance, but it pays for cancellations and disruptions modification. If you're worried the cruise line may not make it, go ahead and flex with their schedule.
