The Dismantling of the Office Economy

25% of the US workforce is dedicated to personal service industry jobs. These are people working in low wage, you know, service sector jobs whose jobs have really been like decimated since the pandemic started. And if we make the shift to remote work for good, they're not coming back. The fabric of local small business and local community gathering spaces is not worth the sacrifice of some flexibility on my part.
