The Distribution of Surviving Birth Charts

Vadius Valens lived in the 2nd century and he's the source where the most birth charts survive from, because he has over 100 charts. But when we count up charts that are outside of Valens, we usually end up with a distribution that looks roughly like this. The number of surviving charts peaking around the 2nd and 3rd centuries CE, which is roughly around the time of the height of the Roman Empire. And then starting to decline after that in the 4th century and then pretty abruptly after that inthe 5th and 6th centuries as the Roman Empire goes into decline.
